Amelia Faces Her Anxiety

MID - UPPER PRIMARY

Amelia is worried. Her Year 5 Class is planning an overnight trip but she’s never stayed away from home. She’s anxious at the thought of leaving her parents but at the same time fears missing out on the fun with her friends. Will Amelia face her anxiety or give into it?

Complementing the children’s book, Amelia Faces Her Anxiety, this Question Guide has been created to teach kids to read to learn and not just learn to read.

An invaluable resource designed to upskill parents and teachers alike on the best way to educate their tiny humans in the area of Reading Comprehension. This Question Guide will help Primary School aged children learn through conversation in addition to preparing them for NAPLAN. Using the prompts, the reader will learn to analyse text, whatever the size, to deepen their understanding of what they are reading.

About the Stories

Each story in the series is based on the Author’s experiences as a teacher, a mother and a Restorative Justice Coach. Giving the reader the ability to ask the right questions and come up with their own conclusions, encourages them to develop problem solving skills, which they can use in all areas of their life. We all know that small problems can seem really big to tiny humans and parents can be tempted to sweep in and save the day. Instead of taking over, parents need to up-skill their child in the area of problem solving so they can confidently face any bump in the road. Whilst most stories have a Restorative Justice focus, others are purely fun and light-hearted, giving the reader the opportunity to explore many areas of comprehension.
